2,435 boxes of Mac & Cheese Pile High at SVUMC
Goals and Records are made to be broken! That has never been more true than with the 2011 Mac & Cheese food drive. The 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade class of Sierra Vist United Methodist Church once again have surpassed their goal of 2,011 boxes of Mac & Cheese in 2011. The count as of today is 2,435 boxes, and those boxes cover 3 of the 4 walls in their classroom.
Joe Lee, one of the sunday school teachers, brought up an excellent comparison. The number of boxes collected this year is more than the previous 3 years combined. His point is that you cannot limit God, or yourself for that matter.
This "Special Project" was recognized recently by the United Methodist Southwest Texas Conference.

2010 - The "Mac and Cheese 1000" Race is ON !!
The 7th and 8th grade Sunday School class at Sierra Vista United Methodist Church (SVUMC) are off the the races again for 2010. They have "opened their door" to allow the boxes of Mac and Cheese to roll in!
Their target this year is not 300 boxes of Mac and Cheese. Its not even 500 boxes. They laughed when 750 boxes was mentioned. They decided the goal was going to be 1000 boxes or nothing! They weren't just going to "Beat Hunger" this year. The class was determined that they were going to send "Hunger" to the hospital in critical condition.
The classmates joined together and spread the word through out the community and their church home of SVUMC. And once again the church and the community has started to answer the call. It has been "Raining" boxes of Mac and Cheese around the classroom.

Check out the counter on this website and the "thermometer" on their classroom wall to see where the count of boxes stand.
Whether its one box...
...or one case...
...they all count in the "Race to Beat Hunger"!
Great things are bound to happen when these kids are in charge.

So the class started counting the boxes.
They counted....
